Be careful what you pray for

If I didn't know any better, I'd think I was on a Candid Camera show ever since I posted my resolutions. Why is it that when I want to work on say, "holding my tongue" or "seeing other people's differences in a positive light" that I am bombarded with opportunities to grow?! Be careful what you pray for!!

I will refrain from multiple examples from the week and just site the latest one from our outing this morning. I took both kids to the grocery store today at 11ish! My first mistake was taking both kids to the store that close to lunch time but we had no food! They did very well after finding a car shopping cart, a piece of turkey and two cookies. Anyway, we were ready to check out and our clerk was VERY friendly. I appreciate her friendliness but this was a bit over the top. When she stopped talking long enough to take a breath, I explained that the medicine at the front needed to be rung up separate from the groceries. (All medicines we pay for out of a Health Savings Account credit card, Dave Ramsey recommends). Well, all the groceries ended up on the HSA credit card. I explained again why this could card could not pay for anything but medicine and she did not comprehend nor did she ring up my coupons which I actually remembered to bring! After many deep breaths, calls to numerous managers, crediting the card, re-ringing the merchandise, scanning the coupons, Curls screaming "OUT, OUT!" and Slugger honking the car horn on the shopping cart so many times I thought I was going to rip the wheel off the cart, we made our way out of the grocery store. I know this sounds silly, maybe even funny to some of you, especially if you don't have young children... this is way more than I can handle with a smile and even a bit of grace. This is why a glass of wine is already poured and waiting in the fridge until it is somewhat close to 5 o'clock!

Oh you should have just drank that glass at 3pm! No one would have been the wiser. I know exactly what you mean. I learned long ago to never pray for patience...

My motto is "It's 5 o'clock somewhere!" As long as you're done driving for the day, I say go for it! Bless your heart - I remember those days well, however I am now one of those people who find your story funny. Sorry :(
Give those sweeties a hug for me!
