"How's my driving?" I know you've seen these signs around, have you ever called one? I called a local car repair shop the other day and reported their driver speeding through our neighborhood. I hope he was reprimanded in some form or fashion. It made me start thinking about how easy it is to complain about something but so hard to compliment.
I need to call about our neighborhood UPS man. He is so good about slowing down for the kids. He honks a little tune to let them know he is coming around the corner, he goes slow, waves, etc. I have never called or told him personally how much I appreciate him for his driving. I need to do that tomorrow!
Our last pediatric dentist appointment was the most pleasant experience I have ever had at a doctor's office! Our appointment was at 10am. They called Slugger's name as soon as we signed in, the entire office was cheerful, the facility was sparkling clean, they were efficient and wonderful with both of my kids. We were out the door by 10:35 with no tears, no fighting, no redirection. It was amazing! I got in the car and was almost in a daze. I called on my cell phone and asked for the office manager and told her. She said, "Thank you so much for calling! I can't wait to tell my staff! I was expecting the exact opposite!" How sad that managers are not trained on how to take a compliment but know exactly what to do with a disgruntled customer. Hmmm...Says a lot about our society.
The same is true for my kids and hubby. How easy it is to nag and harp on all the bad choices, negative things instead of lifting them up with positive, praise worthy words. Today's challenge for myself and anyone else reading... recognize someone you come in contact with today for a positive thing they did. It's contagious!

You're SO right! We really are so much quicker to complain than to compliment. Thanks for the reminder!
